MIA:   The story of Winnie the Pooh was written in 1926 by Alan A. Milne.  Milne was born in London, England, attended Cambridge University, fought in World War I, and became a successful writer after the war.  He moved his family from London to the country to inspire his writing.

- - - On Slide - - -

IZABELLE:   He watched his son, Christopher Robin, play with his stuffed bear named Winnie and other animals.  That gave him the idea to write a children’s book about the adventures they could have in the forest by their home.   Ernest Shepherd did the illustrations for the book and Winnie the Pooh became a wonderful success!

PARKER:  Winnie the Pooh and his friends have entertained children all over the world in books, movies, and music.  We hope to entertain YOU this evening.  We now present “Winnie the Pooh, a Musical Revue”.

PARKER:  Winnie the Pooh lived in an enchanted forest.  It was morning and he woke up to the sound from his Pooh-Coo Clock.  He was happy to start a wonderful day of adventure with some new friends!

JULIE:  After a while Pooh’s tummy starts to rumble!  He realizes that he doesn’t have any honey for his snack.  And Pooh bears love honey!!

POOH:  I’m rumbly in my tummy!!

JULIE: Winnie the Pooh was thinking, like he usually did

POOH: “Think Think Think.  Where can I find some honey?”

JULIE:  Pooh was surprised when someone came bursting into his house!

(Tigger comes bouncing into Winnie the Pooh’s house and knocks down Pooh. )

TIGGER:  Hello!  I’m Tigger.  T-I-double G-ER.  That spells Tigger.

POOH:  I know.  You bounced me before!

TIGGER:  Hoo hoo hoo!  I did?  Oh yes.  I ree-cog-an-ize you.  You’re the one that’s stuffed with fluff.

POOH:   And…’re sitting on me.

TIGGER:  (helps Pooh up)  Oh, glad to see you again!

POOH:  So….. what is a Tigger?

TIGGER:  Hoo hoo!  (to audience)  He asked for it.

PIGLET:  How are you Eeyore?

EEYORE:  It’s not the best day I ever had.  As a matter of fact, it’s pretty bad.  But since you asked.  I’m feeling crummy.  Isn’t that funny?

ALL:  (over the top of each other)  No.  Not really.  It’s not funny.  I don’t think so.  Not at all.

AUBRIELLE:   In the search for honey, the hungry Pooh bear comes up with a plan to steal honey from some tree-dwelling bees. He rolls around in mud to disguise himself as a raincloud, then floats up to the hive with a blue balloon.

RICARDO:  Well, Winnie the Pooh’s tummy is still rumbly.  He hasn’t had breakfast yet.  So off he goes to look for some honey.  Pooh stops in to see Rabbit.

RABBIT:  Uh….yes…..haven’t you?

POOH:  Why no I haven’t.  Thank you for inviting me

RABBIT:  Did I?  Well I suppose you’d better come in.

RICARDO:  Soon Pooh was enjoying a smackerel of honey for his breakfast.

RABBIT:  Don’t you ever do anything but eat honey, Pooh bear?

POOH:  I suppose I should try to do some new things once in a while.  I could try gardening with you Rabbit.

RABBIT:  Oh oh no……you mean help weed my carrots and cabbage and corn?  I think I’m the only one who should work in my garden……

POOH:  Well okay.  I guess I’ll go visit with OWL and see if he knows of something new I could try.  Owl is the wisest friend I have.  He can help me. Bye.

(Pooh goes to visit OWL)

POOH:  Hello Owl.  Rabbit told me I should try to do something else beside just eat honey.  Can you help me?

POOH:  Oh bother…….

OWL:  Are you listening Pooh?  Which of those interesting things do you want to try?

POOH:  Well…..I’m not sure…….Hmm.  They all sound very fun!  But I don’t want to do any of them by myself.  Will you join me?

Piglet Song Intro:

PAITYN:  It was a late autumn day and while little Piglet was walking through the enormous forest trees, she began feeling……well …..small.

(Dialogue in the middle of the song – characters on stage left or right)

PIGLET:  It sure would be nice if my friends needed me.

PAITYN:  Then Piglet remembered

RABBIT:  Piglet.  Could you help me lullaby the bees?

EEYORE:  Piglet.  Could you help me call the bees to the hive?

TIGGER:  Yes, Piglet.  Could you help me reach higher?

POOH:  Piglet.  We need your help.

(Piglet finishes song)

PAITYN: And so on this day, Piglet learned something very important.  Even the smallest of friends can be enormously helpful, especially if they have a heart as big as Piglets.

LUKE: Summer is almost over in the 100-acre wood and school is about to start.   Christopher Robin knows he must tell Winnie the Pooh that their time together is about to end.  He is a little worried about giving Pooh the news.

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN:  Pooh, there’s something I have to tell you.

POOH:  Is it something nice?

POOH:  Then it can wait

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN:  It can?  For how long?

POOH:  Forever and ever

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN:  Well we still have some time before school starts, so let’s have one more exciting day!  We’re all here together now.   Why don’t we have a dance?     Kanga can you teach us that new dance you like to do?

KANGA:  You mean the one I do with Roo, Rabbit, and Tigger?  It’s a bouncy one!  It’s called the Kangaroo Hop!

SARA:  The time has come for us to leave the 100-acre wood and say goodbye Winnie the Pooh and the rest of Christopher Robin’s special friends.  We’ve learned many things from Winnie the Pooh.

BRANDON:  Pooh loves to be friends with everyone.  He knows that we are all different in so many good ways.  That makes friendships even more special.

- - - On Slide - - -

SARA:   Winnie the Pooh reminds us that we all have talents that can help other people.  Helping others is what makes the world a better place. Every single person is needed.

- - - On Slide - - -

BRANDON: As Christopher Robin leaves to start school, he talks to Winnie the Pooh.

POOH:  Christopher, if you’re not here, who will help me?

Slide: “You’re Braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem, and Smarter than you think”

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN:  Silly old bear…..don’t you know that You’re Braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think?

POOH:  Braver than I believe?  Stronger that I seem?  Smarter than I think?

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN:  Yes, that’s right!  Don’t ever forget it.  And one more thing –even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.  (hand over his heart)  I’ll always be with you.
